It has come to our attention that one of Yuxin's hairstyles in the Sphinx X Riddle MV teaser may have been a form of cultural appropriation and as concerned UMs, what we can do is try reaching out to iQIYI and Yuxin regarding this matter.
Yuxin's official fanclub has been informed already but we encourage everyone to also try contacting iQIYI and Yuxin by sending them an e-mail.

脏辫分很多种，并且可以以不同且创意的方法下完成。不过他们的发型不仅仅是关于审美。其实，这更接近于他们的民族，部落，和地位。每当说起奴隶，通常他们的头发都会被标为丑陋，不专业，不文化，不洁或者肮脏。这些是直到今天都还在发生的事。也有人因为头发的关系不被聘用甚至被解除。所以他们的一部分人也被迫戴假发，拉直头发。这些何尝不是一种种族歧视呢?
作为非常了解文化挪用带来的负面影响的粉丝们，我们想请求爱豆青春剪掉雨昕戴有脏辫的画面。挪用这种发型是错误的，因为它根本不适合非黑人的发质。雨昕的头发可能也会脱落。人们需要多多了解文化挪用以及为什么这是错误的。雨昕和爱豆青春需要承认这种发型确实不该被她使用。

Cultural Appropriation in THE9's Sphinx MV

Good day!
It has come to our attention that one of Yuxin's hairstyles in the MV teaser may have been a form of cultural appropriation and we would like to reach out to you regarding that matter.
Cultural appropriation is taking things from a culture that isn't your own without understanding or respecting it. It is merely for one's own personal interest. In Yuxin's case, her hair seems like it was styled to resemble black hair in some shape or form. Fans have been expressing their discomfort about it and why is it wrong.
Black hair—be it braids, dreads, cornrows, twists, kinky hair, locs, etc.—are done in rather creative ways. Their hairstyles aren't always about beauty. As a matter of fact, it is a way to understand their communities, tribes, and their status. And when it came to slavery, black people have been told that their hair is considered "ugly, unprofessional, uncivilized, unkempt, dirty" that is something that they still get today. There are multiple stories of black people who weren't hired or ended up being fired because of this. Aside from that, there have been cases where black people got wigs and were forced to straighten their hair which is a form of racism and discrimination.
As concerned fans, we would like to ask if it is possible for IQIYI to edit out the parts where Yuxin is seen with that hairstyle. Appropriating black hairstyles is wrong because it is not meant for non-black people of color/white people's hair texture. Yuxin's hair—however it is styled in that MV—could have fallen out. And again, there's cultural appropriation (as defined in the first paragraph), taking their culture and using it for personal gain. There are people who are very ignorant to this, hence why education is rather important. Yuxin and IQIYI need to acknowledge that black hairstyles are not for her to take.
